What is Craft Beer?

Craft beer has been an ever popular beverage in the UK since the 1970’s. Yet, craft beer has a number of distinguishing features that make it stand out from other types of beer – not only for it’s taste but in the way it is brewed. Craft beer is;

  • Beer made by a brewer that is small, independent, and traditional.
  • Beer that is crafted instead of manufactured.
  • Brewed using an art that requires skill and careful attention to detail.
  • In the UK, it is either having an all malt flagship beer (the main seller) or at least half of the beers are all malt or use adjuncts only to enhance the flavour.

  • Small, Independent and Traditional,
  • Emphasize flavour and quality.
  • Small defined as annual production of 6 million barrels of beer or less.
  • Independent defined as at least 75% owned or controlled by a craft brewer.
  • Traditional defined as at least 50% of its volume being all malt beer.

Who are we?

British Craft Beers Ltd. started in the East Midlands, with an aim of promoting and selling the growing range of craft beers from UK brewers worldwide. The company takes a marketing and strategic approach promoting British Craft Beers as a premium bottled product to clubs, bars and restaurants, thus achieving sensible volumes and attractive margins. Current partner brewers include:  Elgoods, Thornbridge, Windsor & Eton, Springhead and Peak Ales amongst others.

As a result of working for some years in China and with a close working relationship with UK Trade & Investment and Nottingham University Business School in Ningbo, China. British Craft Beers has initially uniquely focused in China and can offer a depth of knowledge and experience in this market in particular with import regulations and labelling requirements. We have been able to break down China into distinct geographical markets and sectors and have developed contacts with beer agents and importers in different 1st and 2nd tier cities that include Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Ningbo, and Hangzhou.

British Craft Beers are continuing to develop effective commercial partnerships with UK brewers and to seek beer importers and agents throughout China and the rest of the world.
